The session will be a panel discussion with academic experts, policy professionals and environmentalists to debate the challenges that UK cities faces in trying to develop sustainably, combat climate change and protect biodiversity. The session will focus on how citizens and policymakers can create change and the role that science and engineering can play in this field.

Event participants should leave with a greater understanding of:

  • The importance of cities with regards to climate change, biodiversity and sustainable development, and the key challenges they face in these areas;

  • The role that urban citizens and policymakers can play to tackle issues around climate change, biodiversity and sustainable development;

  • Why science and engineering are important in tackling these issues at a city level
