Steve Wadey. OBE, Chief Executive
Steve joined QinetiQ as Chief Executive Officer in April 2015, responsible for overall leadership of the Group. Following a successful five-year strategic transformation programme, Steve is currently leading the development and implementation of the next phase of growth to build an integrated global defence and security company over the next five years. This is underpinned by business and cultural changes to deliver improved operational performance and a sustainable profitable business.
Previously, Steve was the UK Managing Director and Technical Director of MBDA, a missile systems business with over 10,000 employees internationally. Steve played a central role in transforming the operational performance of MBDA in the UK, developing and implementing the Team Complex Weapons initiative with the UK Customer and fostering European cooperation. From 2013, Steve helped establish the UK Defence Growth Partnership (DGP) as the Industry Co-chair, alongside the Minister for Business and Enterprise. In the 2015 Queen's birthday honours list, Steve was awarded an OBE for services to the UK Defence Sector. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, the Institution of Engineering and Technology and the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Sam Lewis.
Chief Growth Officer
Sam joined QinetiQ in 2021 and has responsibility for Business Development, Commercial/Contracts, Supply Chain Management, and Strategic Communications & Marketing. Sam joined QinetiQ from Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), where he led the company’s efforts to integrate the former Spatial Integrated Systems (SIS) and lead all unmanned surface and ground vehicle efforts.
Prior to the acquisition of SIS, Sam served as President and Chief Operating Officer for a leading provider of autonomy solutions and lifecycle engineering. Prior roles include serving as the interim CEO and Senior Vice President for Automation, Digitalization, and Electrification for Siemens Government Technologies Inc.
Greg Barsby. Managing Director, QinetiQ Australia
Greg has led QinetiQ Australia as Managing Director since October 2014. Under Greg’s leadership, QinetiQ Australia has positioned as a chosen partner to Defence, Government and industry, delivering unbiased advice and services across the aerospace, land and maritime domains. Greg has strengthened partnerships with key Defence clients and industry providers, seeking to support Defence to successfully deliver programs across the capability life-cycle.
Greg has over 20 years’ experience in Defence and Defence Industry, working within both small and global businesses, and serving within the Australian Army. Before joining QinetiQ Australia, Greg led the Asia Pacific division of a global Defence and government services business.
Shawn Purvis. President & Chief Executive Officer, QinetiQ US
Shawn has recently joined QinetiQ as President and CEO of QinetiQ US. Shawn is responsible for the complete operations of the business while transforming QinetiQ US into a world-class provider of innovative defense and security solutions.
Prior to joining QinetQ, Shawn was a member of the Executive Leadership Team and Corporate Vice President at Northrop Grumman Corporation. Shawn leds Northrop Grumman’s Enterprise Services sector, responsible for global cyber security, operations and next generation digitisation including digital design for engineering, production and manufacturing operations. Over the course of Shawn’s 25+ years of P&L responsibilities, she has led billion-dollar organisations in the areas of defence, intelligence and cyber security technical solutions in support of the warfighter and intelligence customers both domestic and global, achieving organic revenue growth and margin improvement year over year. Her experience also includes the functional integration of a multi-billion dollar acquisition. Shawn’s extensive experience includes strategic, financial, engineering, operations and customer focused leadership positions within Lockheed Martin, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Northrop Grumman.
Carol Borg. Chief Financial Officer
Carol joined QinetiQ in 2021 as Chief Financial Officer. Carol is responsible for the Finance and Corporate Governance functions and takes a lead on ESG for the Group.
Prior to joining QinetiQ, Carol served as Chief Financial Officer of Lightsource bp, a global solar developer. In her 27 year career she has held a number of senior positions including CFO of Vestas’ Southern Europe, MENA & Latin America operations, a global market leader in wind energy with £2bn revenues. Carol has a deep knowledge of operational execution and performance management, financial reporting, risk management and governance, in addition to her significant experience of entering and developing new markets and providing strategic financial advice.
